A very Blessed Chistmas with family in 2009! What fun, food and the children had a ball!

Now off to ride the four wheeler and leave for the mountains for snow tubing!

BIrthday Time!

Family and friends made my 56th Birthday a wonderful week long celebration! From the fun makeover and lunch with Deb (a fun girlie day as I never got those having sons!) Lunches with girlfriends, special time with hubby, dinner with Tye and Jody, phone calls and cards from friends (especially my little buddy Bryson's call to tell me he loved me and Happy Birthday- that made my day!) and old Piedmont and USAirline friends and those great mountain friends, flowers from Brian & family and a great finish celebrating with Steve and Dona in Charlotte. Each Birthday is such a gift and as you get older you are so aware of the gift of another year!

Plus my special little buddy Noah had a birthday this week too and turned the big 4!!

CELEBRATING FALL WEEKENDS

What another GREAT weekend!!! We call this our yearly fall celebration month. We went to Roanoke VA last weekend and hiked McAfee Knob and Crabtree Falls with friends - 2 spectacular and one challenging hike! This weekend was biking the Virginia Creeper Trail in Abingdon ...17 miles of beauty in the sleet and snow!!! Then warming up on the trail at a great little cafe. This is the greatest biking trek ever! We got back and quickly changed for Dinner at the Peppermill to celebrate Walt's Birthday and then a play at the Barter Theater! We finished off the weekend with a morning walk through Abingdon, dessert FIRST and then rode over to Cody Creek for a fabulous late lunch, tour of the new lodge and a beautiful sunset and we all came back tonight feeling like a bunch of young kids! What an awesome time together with GREAT friends!! LIFE IS GOOD!!!!

Doug's 57th Birthday!

Doug has had quite a celebration this past weekend and this week:
We went to Blowing Rock over the weekend with Ruth and Ron to their Condo and Deb and Chris went also. The guys played golf on Sat. The gals played! We all had a great dinner and went hiking Sunday. Sunday night we had our reunion group and another celebration. Wednesday night was our celebration - dinner and time together. Special us time!
This Friday night Doug will celebrate with his boys - Tye and Bryson. This is most special as he loves all his boys! Saturday we celebrate with our BVI group - time to bring out the rum! I know Donna will wear her fishing dress since we are going out on the boat!

Fantasia (Idol Winner) is coming to The Tea House on Saturday to film a segment of her new reality show. Should be interesting.

Pop had poker night with the boys tonight and the gals worked on the 2010 Yosemite trip and wedding plans at Bald Head. We all got excited!

Okay ..how does everyone find time to work, keep busy schedules, play, do facebook, email and blog. This is crazy! Too much computer time as we would rather be 'doing' than 'posting' what we 'do.' Seems kinda crazy, but we'll keep posting!

Palm Key

What a great place! The gals went to Palm Key last weekend for a kayak and biking trip and it was just gorgeous. We saw our first painted bunting - THE most gorgeous bird. Saw the nesting trees for thousands of white ibis - unbelievable! We stayed in a fabulous beach house on the private Palm Key property and Em and Jody cooked our meals - a GREAT low country boil on Sat. night with cornbread, salad and peach cobbler delivered to our dining table - what service! I could really get use to this!

Even saw Double rainbows after a rain one evening. Went over to Hilton Head on Sunday to bike to the Harbor for lunch. A perfect weekend with the gals! Oh yeh...played hearts and spades after the sun went down. That nil hand gets you everytime!

The PERFECT DAY!

What really is a perfect day...we realized with friends on Sat. It is A HUGE Breakfast, then a ride through beautiful country, a fabulous strenuous all day hike in perfect weather, laughter, sharing, wading in cool water, being amongst God's GRAND creations, then dinner, a beer and to top it off a chocolate dessert! That is a perfect day!

Whirlwind weekend

What a whirlwind weekend! Firt news of our new family member - prcious little Myra! Leah is on her way to Ethiopia and Brian will be joining there. Keep them in your prayers! I can't post a picture yet!

The gals went to Catawba Falls on Sat. Beautiful day with beautiful weather! Then dinner with DUMC Diners. Dad came up Sat. to go to church with us and then I took him to see Vic and Kathleen. (How odd - they lived in Ethiopia for about 16 years with the airline! Sunday evening we hosted the Emmaus group.

Now a new week begins!
